Hirsutismus – der Damenbart
Frauen mit Gesichts- oder übermäßiger Körperbehaarung gelten in unserer Gesellschaft als unattraktiv, ja, unweiblich. Was aber ist die Ursache für den sogenannten Damenbart?

5 bis 10 % aller Frauen leiden an hormonell verursachter Körperbehaarung an Stellen, an denen Frauen zumeist keine Behaarung haben. Der medizinische Begriff hierfür lautet Hirsutismus.

Diese Erkrankung tritt in den meisten Fällen erstmals in der Pubertät auf, seltener bei Frauen in den Wechseljahren. Neben typisch männlichen Behaarungsmustern im Gesicht und im Schambereich tritt oft auch Behaarung auf dem Rücken, auf der Brust und an Beinen und Armen auf. Begleitet werden diese Erscheinungen mit Akne und überschüssiger Talgproduktion, sowie Übergewicht, Stoffwechselstörungen und Fehlfunktionen der Eierstöcke. Als schwere Form des Hirsutismus kann auch die körperliche Vermännlichung der Frau in Form von Vermehrung der Muskulatur, Vergrößerung der Klitoris, und tiefer Werden der Stimme folgen. Frauen, die solche Symptome aufweisen, verlieren aufgrund ihrer Krankheit oft ihr Selbstwertgefühl und haben infolgedessen Schwierigkeiten, einen Partner zu finden.

Im Körper jeder Frau kommen sowohl männliche, als auch weibliche Hormone vor. Das Überwiegen der männlichen Hormone ist die häufigste Ursache vom Hirsutismus. Jedoch kann auch schon die Überempfindlichkeit der Haut gegenüber normaler Mengen von Testosteron (männliches Hormon) zum Ausbruch von Hirsutismus führen. Androgene – eine andere Art der männlichen Hormone, welche auch als Testoide bezeichnet werden -  können ebenso als mögliche Ursache herangezogen werden. Oft liegt der Grund in diesem Fall bei der Einnahme von Präparaten auf Basis von Androgenen (Medikamente, Doping) oder aber um eine vererbte empfindliche Reaktion der Haarfollikel auf diesen Hormon, was wiederum zu den erwähnten Folgen führt. Diese Form von Hirsutismus kann nur schwer behandelt werden. Zur Diagnose sind Blutuntersuchungen, sowie gynäkologische oder allgemeinmedizinische Untersuchungen durch einen Arzt notwendig.

Um den Hormonhaushalt wieder auszugleichen, wird bei Hirsutismus eine Hormontherapie angeboten. Um die äußere Auswirkungen dieser Erkrankung zu beseitigen, kommen meist die übliche Formen der Epilation zur Anwendung, also die Rasur. Bei weichen und dünnen Haaren besteht weiterhin die Möglichkeit, sie zu bleichen und somit „unsichtbar“ zu machen. Um das Übergewicht zu bekämpfen und den Stoffwechsel wieder in Ordnung zu bringen, sind eine Ernährungsumstellung und Sport angeraten. In vielen Fällen führt dies nicht nur zur Gewichtsabnahme, sondern kann sogar soweit gehen, dass man letzlich auf die medikamentöse Behandlung verzichten kann. Zudem wird hierurch der Menstruationszyklus reguliert und die oft damit verbundenen Schmerzen oder Überlkeiten reduziert. Kurzfristig können auch diverse Salben hilfreich sein.

Bemerkenswert aber ist, dass kürzlich in Portugal Frauen mit aufgeklebten Schnurrbärten auf die Straße gegangen sind, um auf diese recht verbreitete Erkrankung aufmerksam zu machen und für mehr Toleranz zu kämpfen, denn es gibt genügend Frauen, die sich die oft mühsame Behandlung nicht antun wollen, sondern der Meinung sind, dass es an der Gesellschaft ist, ihre Vorurteile endlich abzustellen.
